Cheesy Stuffed Dough Rolls

  • 2¼ tsp (1 packet) active dry yeast
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 egg

For the Cheese Filling

  • 2 cups ricotta or cottage cheese
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley (optional)

For Topping

  • 1 egg (beaten, for egg wash)
  • 1 tbsp melted butter

 Instructions

1. Make the Dough

  1. Mix warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add egg, butter, salt, and flour.
  3. Knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Cover and let rise for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

2. Prepare the Filling

  • Mix ricotta, cheddar, Parmesan, egg, garlic powder, black pepper, and parsley until smooth.

3. Shape the Rolls

  1. Roll dough into a large rectangle.
  2. Spread the cheese filling evenly.
  3. Roll tightly into a log.

4. Second Rise

  • Arrange slices on a lined baking tray.
  • Cover and let rise for 30 minutes.

5. Bake

  • Brush with beaten egg.
